More time to understand your eyes
An eye examination should do more than establish whether you need new glasses. It is also an important opportunity to assess your eye health, discuss changes in your vision and identify anything that may require further investigation.
At Glasseslab, our advanced eye examinations last approximately 45 minutes. This gives our optometrists time to conduct a detailed assessment, listen to your concerns and explain the results without making your appointment feel rushed.
What happens during your examination?
Your appointment begins with a conversation about your vision, general health, current glasses or contact lenses and any symptoms you may have noticed.
Your optometrist will then select the tests most appropriate for you. These may include:
- Checking your distance and near vision
- Assessing your current prescription
- Examining how well your eyes focus and work together
- Measuring the pressure inside your eyes when appropriate
- Examining the front and back of your eyes
- Using OCT imaging to obtain a detailed view of structures within your eyes
- Discussing your results and answering your questions
The exact tests performed will depend on your age, symptoms, medical history and individual eye-care needs.

No two patients are exactly the same. You may be experiencing headaches, tired eyes, difficulty using screens, problems with night driving or a change in your vision. You may also have a family history of an eye condition that requires closer attention.
Rather than taking a one size fits all approach, we adapt the examination to you and explain our findings in clear, straightforward language.

The staff at Glasses Lab in Beckenham are all very professional and I was very impressed by the optician who tested my eyes extremely thoroughly and took time to explain carefully what my options were for my new glasses .When choosing frames I was delighted by the selection and was encouraged to try on as many as I wished by Karolina who was able to advise me which frames would best suit my prescription.The only downside was that my new glasses took two weeks before they were ready but the wait was worth it as I am very pleased with my new glasses. There is a great range of glasses available and the team really help you choose what suits you and is the right frame for what you need.I ordered my glasses on March 29th and they were ready to collect on April 7th, just over a week later!Thank you!
